Asoka


Asoka was a group of Malmö evolved or was born from the ashes of Taste of Blues, the group was its battery, Patrik Erixsson. After a brief period calling themselves Take Off, became Bengtsson Asoka when the brothers joined as a new rhythm section of the band in 1971. Asoka released only one album of the same name as the group, which was produced by Bo Wingberg (The Spotnicks) and has become a treasure sought by many collectors. The album is characterized by its sound "rough" guitar and Hammond organ with lyrics in Swedish and English. In 2005 it was reissued with previously unreleased tracks Taste of Blues and Take Off. When the band dissolved, Claes Ericsson and Robert Larsson left to join Lotus.

AB was formed in Stockholm in 1972 by Per Tjernberg. His first vinyl release was an ep produced "independently" which included two live improvised sessions. After five albums published. Many of his recordings are more or less live jam sessions in which they used to use lots of very hip percussion Amon Düül. In a way, their early records also remind Swedish Arbete & Fritid (there was a strong connection between these two bands). Also important was the African influence in their music, especially on their fourth album, recorded with the band Afro Tanzania 70. The group went through many lineup changes. In the recordings took part Per Tjernberg (keyboards, percussion, clarinet), Jörgen Adolfsson (sax, violin, mandolin, guitar), Mats Hellqvist (guitar, bass), Pysen Eriksson (percussion, vibraphone), Per Lapins (bass), Anders Jonsson (drums), Bosse Nyman (percussion), Tommy Adolfsson (trumpet, drums), Christer Bjernelind (bass, mandolin, guitar, keyboards, percussion) Peter Rönnberg (guitar), Kjell Andersson (clarinet, percussion), Ingvar Karkoff (keyboards), Bengt Berger (drums), Anita Livstrand (percussion), Peter Ragnarsson (percussion), Christer Botha (saxophone) and Sigge Krantz (guitar, bass .) Besides, there were some other musicians who collaborated on the discs as mentioned Afro 70 or Don Cherry. In addition to his career at AB, the musicians had much more activity and Jörgen Adolfsson parallel and playing in Iskra and later in Bolon Bata. Adolfsson and Botha were also in Vargavinter. Hellqvist Elektriska participated in Linden and Krantz in Stockholm Norra and Bröderna Lönn. AoF was formed in Uppsala in 1969 . The band experimented with various styles changing membership and musical direction on each disk. The core group consisted of Roland Keijser (sax), Torsten Eckerman (trumpet, keyboards) and later Tord Bengtsson (bass, violin) with Ove Karlsson (cello, guitar, vocals) as a permanent member of the band. Almost all the musicians in the group were multi-instrumentalists. Keijser and KjellWestling (sax, violin) were part of Gunder Hägg while Bengtsson Över glans had been in Sjo Och Strand. Thomas Mera Gartz (violin, guitar) and Torbjörn Abelli (bass) came from Trad Gras Och Sten and would subsequently be Badkar Archimedes, like Bengt Berger (drums). Another important musician who went through the group was Bosse Skoglund (drums), who was a member of the band also Peps Persson and it would be a founding member of Nature. The Sonet label released the first records of the group whose music would range from folk to jazz music through experimental. At the time that most of the musicians in Sweden policy permeated his records, did AoF recording an album with Rolf Lundqvist. He later became a record for MNW and end of his career in Archie Badkar eventually join to form a band called Arbach huge. The dissolution of the group took place in 1981.

A recently published this compilation of one of the groups most successful progressive rock at the time, Curved Air, compilation ranging from its inception back in 1970 to the present. Sonja Kristina, and Darryl Way have been the most prominent members of this group who have spent some of the most important British musicians of the seventies. Although his music was not particularly "commercial", some songs were in the top of the list, as Back Street Luv. This compilation is a good way of getting to know this group mixed pop, rock, classical and electronics to create a personal style, all spiced with the voice and personality of Sonja Kristina. Most of the themes of this collection are albums such as Air Conditioning, Second Album, Phantasmagoria, Air Cut, Midnight Wire, Airborne and Love Child, along with three recent issues of Sonja Kristina's MASK.
