PUTA POETRY: A democratic society can not continue to forget that all humans have the same inherent dignity regardless of their work. Thus, we can not postpone any longer the recognition of labor and social rights to those engaged in prostitution. However, in recent years has hardened police pressure on workers and sex workers in many English cities, in parallel with prostitution abolitionist campaign.
is clear that we must pursue the criminal syndicates that traffic in women and forced prostitution, and that we must protect these women to denounce their exploiters. For this, the state has enough instruments. But, contrary to what one wants to believe, many of the women engaged in prostitution on a voluntary basis, even with all the constraints that a company like ours requires anyone when choosing a job.
As noted Hetaira (collective for the rights of prostitutes), one of the greatest violence exerted against the criminalization of these women is made of them and the environment in which they operate, not recognizing it as work and denying them their rights both as workers and citizens.
Project Puta publishing poetry was born a year ago as a modest form of solidarity with these women and in particular Hetaira, the group that has most meaning in the struggle for dignity and rights of prostitutes and who donate gauge lights all of the benefits gained from the sale of this book and the authors and the authors cede their rights. Eighty-one poets
participate with their works in this collection at the request of the editor or other poets who took up this project and contributed to its spread. In this regard I must express my special thanks to Francisco and Isabel Cenamor Bono, who multiplied by far my limited ability to call.
Most part of the poems that appear in these pages are original. When not, the relevant citation appears at the bottom of the text. As will be seen, the presence of prostitution in the poems is sometimes central and others, only tangentially.
